Climate & Energy

Real climate action that balances environmental stewardship with economic opportunity.

Climate & Energy

Climate change is real, man-made, and solvable — but only if we stop treating it like a team sport. The Halcyon Party supports climate action grounded in science, scalable in practice, and supported across ideological lines. This is not about left vs. right. It's about survival vs. inertia.

Science-Based Climate Target

The atmosphere doesn’t care about politics.

We support:

  • Binding national emissions targets consistent with IPCC guidelines and U.S. obligations under the Paris Agreement.

  • Climate policy as national security strategy, recognizing threats from rising seas, forced migration, and agricultural disruption.

  • Annual public climate reports, measuring progress and accountability in plain language.

Market-Based Carbon Pricing

Make pollution expensive. Innovation will follow.

We advocate:

  • Carbon dividends — a revenue-neutral carbon fee where 100% of the money is returned directly to households.

  • Border carbon adjustments, ensuring U.S. industries aren’t undercut by polluting imports.

  • Sunset clauses and audit reviews, so pricing mechanisms adjust to real-world effectiveness.

Clean Energy Investment

Clean energy isn’t just good for the planet — it’s good for business.

We propose:

  • Massive investment in solar, wind, geothermal, and battery storage, with performance-based tax credits.

  • R&D funding for advanced nuclear, green hydrogen, and carbon capture, hedging for diverse solutions.

  • Direct support for local energy co-ops, helping communities own and benefit from clean generation.

A Just Transition for Fossil Fuel Communities

No one should be left behind in the name of progress.

We support:

  • Job training and wage subsidies for workers in oil, gas, and coal-dependent regions.

  • Pension guarantees and relocation stipends for displaced energy workers.

  • Investment in place-based economic renewal, tailored to regional needs — not just federal mandates.

Greener Transportation

If we want people to drive less, we need to give them options.

We advocate:

  • Expanded electric vehicle infrastructure, including rural fast-charging corridors.

  • Incentives for e-bikes, electric buses, and urban transit upgrades.

  • Smart zoning reforms that allow walkable, transit-accessible housing near job centers.

Nature-Based Solutions

Sometimes the best tech is a tree.

We support:

  • Reforestation, wetland restoration, and regenerative agriculture as natural carbon sinks.

  • Conservation easements and carbon farming credits for landowners.

  • Urban greening initiatives to lower heat islands and improve public health.

Resilience & Adaptation

Some damage is already here. Let’s be ready.

We propose:

  • Climate-resilient infrastructure investments, including flood defenses and wildfire mitigation.

  • Updated building codes and insurance reform, especially in coastal and drought-prone areas.

  • National climate risk maps for housing, investment, and emergency planning.

International Climate Cooperation

If the planet goes down, we all go down.

We support:

  • Technology sharing and climate aid to developing nations vulnerable to extreme weather.

  • Green trade deals that reward climate-aligned production and penalize pollution outsourcing.

  • Global methane reduction agreements, where progress can be swift and cost-effective.
